Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Fighters Table
From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative including angels, demons, and dark forces expanding in strength within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the actions of the latest installment show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the team knows exactly where to head next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his own means, invading the hidden lair, attacking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.
The traitor then cleared his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, desires revenge.
- Kattigan is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their position as important members in the powerful family could assist the group access places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This means them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Questers and Strategists parties.
Audiences can anticipate learning which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
